Update on Me!! Included: My progress this semester, seeing Hanson again, and more Dodger stuff.
Hi everyone!! I hope you are doing well. This will be a long entry, you have been warned. hehehe. I'll begin this post with my progress this semester at CSUN so far. I have an "A" in SOC 150 after 1 exam. I got the second highest score out of 120 and the highest out of any female. Yay!! I have no grade in HIST 150 yet, but we have our first midterm (format: 2 essays) next Friday. I'm nervous about that, I hope I do ok. In TH 110 I have an "A" after 1 exam. I got a 99%. My professor told me that was the best score he'd ever seen for that exam. Yay again. hehe In PHIL 100, I have a B+ after 3 quizzes, and 7 homework assignments. We have our first exam on Tuesday. I've been studying hard, so I hope it goes well. Last semester was a very difficult one for me, the worst ever as far as grades go and also just how I was feeling. I wasn't myself. I was very depressed and "down", nothing really mattered to me. I feel that I have made a complete turn around and it shows in every aspect of my life. I feel like me again. Since I started exercising and losing weight, I've gained a new confidence and feeling of self-worth. I think that has played a big part in how focused I've been with my school stuff. I have more energy, more enthusiasm for learning, and just an all around more positive attitude when it comes to schoolwork and just life itself.
Last week, I was fortunate to see my favorite band, Hanson, again. This was my 5th Hanson concert. My Dad dropped me off on his way to work at the Sunset House of Blues. It was around 8:30am. I talked to the girls next to me. They had gone to the Anaheim show the night before. After a while I saw my friends Stacy and Michelle, whom I met when I went to the taping of "Complete Savages". Very nice to see them again. Flash forward a few hours. At House of Blues, they have this thing called "Pass the Line" in which you can get in front of the "general" line when you get a receipt from buying an entree for lunch or dinner at the restaurant or $35 worth of merchandise from the HOB store. I knew about this from the show I went to in February and was against it at first. But as time passed, I realized it would be better to know for sure where I was in line and be guaranteed a spot rather than staying where I was and worrying about how many more people were in front of me. So, I caved. I had lunch with a nice girl named Krystal and her friend Fred, an EMT and fireman (this will be important info. later in my story) whom I had been talking with earlier in the morning. Afterwards, I felt better knowing I didn't have to worry anymore. My place was secure and I could just relax the rest of the day. Fast forward many hours. I did two girls' make-up, which was sooo fun. The first girl's friend loved what I did so much, she asked me to do her make-up too hehe. Fast forward to the concert. When we got inside, I ended up second "row", center, the closest I've ever been at a Hanson concert. As more people were let in, the temperature rose and we began to be smooshed. When the opening act, Brandi Carlile, was on, I began to feel faint. I was dizzy, overheated, and dehydrated. After all the hours I had waited for the show, I was not going down without a fight!! I began to pray to God to please give me strength. Fred was so helpful. I knelt down and tried to regain composure, he kept helping me back up and holding onto me so I wouldn't pass out. An HOB security guy came over and asked if I needed to leave, and I was like, "No, no, I'm ok!!". Fred added, "I'm a paramedic, I'll watch out for her". The HOB guy said, "Alright, but if you're feeling bad during he show, I'm gonna have to get you out of here". I nodded. The opening act left the stage. 30 minutes until Hanson. By the that time, I felt a little better. 10 minutes until Hanson. I started to feel dizzy again. This time it was not going away. I knelt down and just prayed with all my might for God to "please help me, please do something!! I can't miss Hanson with so little time left to go." As soon as I said that, an HOB guy came with water. Ice cold, bottled water, for $4 each. A miracle. Fred payed for my water and held the bottle on the back of my neck. Instant relief. I sipped on the water until Hanson came on and felt 100% better. I believe it was God who connected me with Krystal and Fred and who provided the water when I was in such desperate need of His help. Prayer works!! Onto Hanson. Here's the setlist.

Best Hanson concert ever!! Seriously, they were incredible. I touched Taylor's hand at the end of the show. Yay!!
Yesterday, my Dad, sister, and I went another Dodger game. Our first playoff game ever for all of us. Kevin Eubanks of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno's band, performed the National Anthem on his guitar. Beautifully done. My Shawn ended up belting not 1, but 2, homeruns and pitcher, Jose Lima, pitched 9 shut-out innings in the Dodgers 4-0 victory. The victory last night has kept the Dodgers alive. If they had lost, the season would have been over. Now we have *hope*. Two Saturdays in a row, two memorable games. We're going to the game today. I hope the Dodgers can keep this going!!
So, that is all for this entry. I will write again soon. :)
Love,
Amanda
