Not My Shawn!!
Yesterday my Dad told me the saddest news I have heard in a long time. Shawn Green, my most favorite baseball player ever, may be traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks. I was sobbing. :( I just pray that he won't waive his no-trade clause. He only has one year left on his contract with the Dodgers. If he does leave, I will not go to anymore Dodger games. I am serious. :( I've gone to Dodger games with my Dad since I was a baby. As I got older, I usually just walked around during the game with friends, not ever really paying attention. Then one night game, now years ago, I saw Shawn's picture on the screen as he stood at-bat. I was intrigued. I asked my Dad who he was, where he played, etc. I wanted to know everything about the handsome man with the brown eyes. By the end of the game, I was hooked. Suddenly, I watched the games. At first just because I thought Shawn was cute, but slowly I began to learn about baseball. I learned about the other players on the Dodgers, their names, numbers, and positions, other teams too. Shawn Green made baseball interesting and Dodger Stadium became one of my favorite hangouts. I'll never forget the night he hit three homeruns in one game. My Dad and I were in the Reserve level and saw every one of them. I saved that ticket. I've been fortunate enough to meet Shawn three times and tell him how much I love him. I cried tears of joy when I was in attendance to see the Dodgers win the NL West this past season. Shawn never looked so happy. I'd miss seeing his "Shawn Green pose" as he waits in the on-deck circle. There are too many memories to write here. I don't want to lose all of that!!
