A Rude Awakening
Hey all. I had a rude awakening this morning. Here's what happened:
I got up and got ready as usual. I left on time and was on my way to school a few minutes early because the bus was ahead of schedule, which made me happy. As the ride went on, I decided to take a little nap. I had on my headphones and just closed my eyes and relaxed. When we got to Reseda, I noticed my friend Irene get on the bus. She sat down at the front, but didn't see me. I closed my eyes once again. I don't know how much time passed, but I suddenly felt someone tapping my shoulder. "It's Irene", I thought to myself. When I opened my eyes though, I saw not Irene, but Santiago. I was still half asleep and now in shock. I grimaced and said, "Oh my gosh". He still had his hand on my shoulder. I wriggled away. He tried to start a conversation saying, "So, how are you? How've you been?" What the heck??!! How dare he try to talk to me like nothing happened? How could he think that'd be ok? I looked him straight in the eyes and said, "Get the f*** away." He proceeded to still try and make conversation. "I'm just trying to be friendly". "GET AWAY" I had to say that about 5 times before he moved to another seat. I was so shaken by the whole thing, even though it only lasted less than 10 minutes. Since I hadn't seen him in the 5 weeks since school started, I assumed he must be driving. He was completely out of my mind. I went to Jennifer's apartment instead of walking to my class. I didn't want to risk him trying to talk to me again. I felt sick to my stomach and my hands wouldn't stop shaking. It helped tremendously to have Jennifer there. Thank you Jennifer!! It was weird how the whole thing happened because that's exactly how we met, me asleep and him waking me up.
I hope to God, that's the last time I ever have to talk to Santiago. It took me a long time to recover from the pain he caused me and I just want to move on with my life and try to erase him from my mind.
